Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between VTT and SRT?

Both store timed subtitle text. SRT numbers each subtitle and uses a comma before milliseconds; WebVTT starts with a WEBVTT header, uses a dot, and can carry styling and positioning. Most video editors and players accept SRT, while HTML5 video on the web uses VTT.

Is any information lost when converting VTT to SRT?

The text, line breaks and timing are kept. WebVTT styling, speaker tags and positioning settings are removed, because SRT has no standard way to store them.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes. Select or drop several files together and download them all in a single ZIP.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser, and it is free with no account.
